Arthritis Foundation Programs
Living with arthritis can slow you down or, at its worst, bring you to a full stop. These programs ease arthritis-related pain so you can get back up to speed at a pace that works for you.
The Thai Chi Arthritis Foundation Program is a group exercise program for people of all fitness levels. The ancient practice of gentle Sun-style Tai Chi can improve strength and flexibility while relieving arthritis pain and contributing to your overall wellness. Classes are held every Tuesday and Friday from 11:15 a.m. to noon.
The Aquatic Arthritis Foundation Program uses the soothing warmth of water to combat arthritic pain and stiffness. Led by certified instructors, these classes use gentle movements that can increase flexibility and improve stamina over time. Classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:15 a.m. to noon.
Physician Referral Exercise Program
Talk to your doctor about participating in our 60-day supervised exercise program. It starts with a baseline fitness assessment, which provides the foundation for a customized exercise program. You can participate in the program for up to three days per week for two months, and each supervised session lasts between 30 and 60 minutes. Hearts on the Move
This 60-day supervised program trains you to take care of your most important organ. It’s perfect for people with existing heart problems, cardiovascular risk factors such as hypertension or high cholesterol, or those who just want to improve their heart health. Sessions are scheduled by appointment, and the cost is $60. Participants can schedule sessions for up to three days a week for two months.
Rock Steady Boxing
Rock Steady Boxing Classes is ONLY open to those with Parkinson’s Disease who have been medically diagnosed by their doctor. Rock Steady understands that there are many different levels of Parkinson’s and many levels of fitness. Our coaches are trained to modify exercises so that anyone can benefit.
Boxers undergo a diverse training regimen to achieve the optimal body control it takes to be a good fighter. Boxers train to improve balance, hand-eye coordination, speed of movement, agility, muscle power, mental focus, and rhythm.
All of these things happen to be issues for people with Parkinson’s. So instead of focusing on the specific symptoms of Parkinson’s, people can learn a new skill that is fun and a good stress reliever while addressing many of the symptoms of Parkinson’s.
